This doubletrack trail starts at the Norton Trailhead and climbs up beside the Norton Creek up a beautiful valley until meeting with the CDT Trail. The first mile or so of this trail is annoyingly rocky. Just after passing the turnoff to Ditch Saddle Trail, you will arrive to a small reservoir and road end where there is an old foundation and chimney. From here the doubletrack is typical of this region - an undulating and winding trail with a surface variety of sand, rocks and dirt.

Access Info

Take exit 211 towards Fairmont hotsprings. Take a left onto German Gulch Road immediately after passing the Fairmont RV Park. Follow this road for a ways, past High Rye Cabin, then turn left at a fork. Norton Trailhead is not far down this road and clearly signposted.

It may also be possible to access this trail from Lone Pine Gulch Road and start at the reservoir. I don't know what the condition of this road is.

reporter There was a tree or two down in the upper section. We didn't ride the middle section. Trail was mostly ideal with some damp spots here and there.
