7 km loop. Dedicated mountain bike trail in the South West section of Birds Hill Provincial Park. Single track. Very minor elevation changes. Many sections are built on deer trails and have extremely tight corners and very narrow passings between trees. Other sections open up a bit and have super sweet S bends with great flow.
Some corners have low berms with more berms added each year. This is the most frequented XC race course on the competition calendar with short XC races held every 2 - 3 week during early and mid summer.
The trails dry quickly but many of the lower sections are not rain friendly and are easily rutted when wet.
When foliage is grown in during summer months it's difficult to see ahead so be careful about approaching other riders coming in the opposite direction.
In winter, the trail is packed for excellent fat biking.
Access Info
About a 15 to 30 minute drive from Winnipeg north on HWY 59. Take the Birds Hill Park exit East off 59, stay right on South Drive. Take the first exit to the right after cresting the hill entering the park. Turn off has a brown sign, "Bur Oak". Lot's of parking, but the lot does fill up on warm sunny weekends. Outhouse, but no running water. Provincial Park pass needed for car access year round. Park pass info here https://www.gov.mb.ca/sd/parks/park-fees/index.html
