Fun and flowy trail that's a close (10-15 min ride) from town. There's a lot of side trails waiting to be put on the map. It can be ridden both directions but riding clockwise gives you a lot more pumpy downhill to enjoy. This would be a good ride for experienced bikers who want some fun, fast, roller coastery riding with burms and some small spots to catch air. Or, it would even be good for newbies who aren't afraid of a slow and longer ascent - the descents are non-technical and very approachable.

My 9yo daughter is a beginner and this trail was too much for her. This trail is an intermediate trail...not sure why it's rated beginner. Beginners should look to the turtle bay north shore bike park.

Agreed, I've updated the trail to Intermediate, I'm not sure why it was listed as a beginner trail in the first place.

I like burms and flow trails, and this is pretty good one! If I could change anything it would be the switch backs could be widened to flow better on the downside. I end up bypassing them when I can, but that's just me.

Finally got to ride in Hawaii and this trail didn't disappoint! Riding north to south put all the bermed corners and rock gardens on the downhill. Fun, flowy stuff for the most part. I used the road to return to the north th and did the loop twice. Total elevation climbed in the 4 miles was 800' not 1600'. Thanks to whoever built this great trail.

I'm not sure what to say about this trail... I rode this trail on a specialized enduro that I rented from the nearby, 'The Bike Shop' in town. As far as the trail goes, it's a short (approximately one hour ride) 5 mile ride, that wasn't as float and fun as I was expecting. There are a couple good views from the trail and the limited downhill you get is fun. I rode this trail clockwise because I read a comment that said this was the better way to ride it. It honestly felt like 50 minutes of climbing with 10 minutes of going mostly downhill with some flat pedals sections. I'd rate this trail a 5/10, being average. It just felt like the entire time I was climbing and was rewarded with a couple berms and jumps. So in summary; beginners who are IN SHAPE can ride this trail, some good views, and little reward for your climbing in my opinion.

I agree with Shankyd for the most part. Ohana is a lot of climbing going clockwise with an uneventful downhill section if you stay on Ohana . Most people ride it counterclockwise for that reason. Personally, I ride Ohana primarily to get to the more technical single-track trails such as Renegade, Waterfalls, Desperado and Rock Garden. A lot of riders are unaware of Olomana's entire trail network. With a little creativity, you can easily get 2-3 + hours of fun riding if you venture off of Ohana...

Wanted to stop in and say thank you to all of the folks who have worked to maintain this system of trails. I was gone for about six months and came back to hit up my favorite spot on the island and was blown away by how much effort you all put in. The rakes, benches, work stations, and signage really make the trail accessible and enjoyable. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. I look forward to seeing you guys out there!!!

Does anyone know if the Ohana trail is closed during this latest round of COVID shutdowns? I saw that DOFAW has closed the ditch trail, but thought that this trail is on DLNR land.
