The western half of the Old Stage 'trail', a primitive doubletrack that was built as a stage line across the Kettle Crest, but fell into disuse when Sherman Pass became the primary route. Unlike the pleasant spin that is Old Stage East, the West side is slightly soggy, and is exposed to the sun, all in all not all that enjoyable of a climb. It is best used as the means to make a loop out of Midnight Ridge.
