You start at 3400m and finish at the ocean. This may be the biggest decent of any trail in the world. Route finding required, very easy to descend into the wrong valley and get lost. Use local guides. It's also a 4 hour shuttle.

a trail in Zermatt Switzerland. 20 minute train ride to the top, sorrounded by glaciers and and crazy peaks (Matterhorn) and then ripping trails back to town.

First time I did this trail was back in 1995. Still one of my favorite trails! Peru is an amazing country for mountain biking and for adventure trips. If you are thinking to come to Peru you should get in contact with us, we provide the best trips on a mountain bike!

Amazing and incredible descent from 3500m to 1100m! The rest is fun and interesting for about 10 minutes and then it's a 30km pedal on low grade desert all the way to the ocean.

For the real hardcore I'd recommend doing 2 laps of the upper singletrack because it's some of the best in the world!

Is it really easy to get lost or can we go without a guide?

I did the upper portion twice with Diego from holy trails. Definitely a challenge but an incredible descent. I highly recommend booking with him if you want to try this.
