This is the Olympic Adventure Route (OAR), a 25 mile alternative to the paved, rail grade ODT route between the Elwha River and Lake Crescent. It is designed for mountain bikers, hikers, and equestrians. It has 25 miles of double and single track riding over very scenic, hilly, forested terrain. The trail is entirely off road except the last 4 miles on the west end, which is on old RR grade along the Lyre River and shared with logging access.
The climbs are gentle and smooth, the downhills are fast and flowy.

The timber sale is still there so the trail's still not really ridable after mile 6 until a little bit before where the end of Alpaca ties into...

2nd hand reports confirm that logging has taken place around MP7. The trail through that section is pretty much gone and more logging may continue.

Beautiful and well maintained trail. Should be considered for IMBA Epic.

Buttery smooth goodness, nary a root or rock to be found. This is a great beginner ride (except for the distance) as there are no steep climbs, the trail is wide and has nothing technical. Since this is a multi use trail, watch out for horses and horse poop.
Most mountain bikers would rate this a green.

Since the last 4 miles are gravel road, another option is to end the ride at the Joyce-Piedmont road crossing. There is a small parking area just south of the crossing.
