Palmer Rail Trail Details
The Palmer Rail Trail follows the old rail road line from Palmer to Moose Creek. From the Palmer side, there are a few wash outs starting about a mile and a half up the trail. These can usually be easily crossed. At about four miles in there are a few more wash outs and some active beavers. Some sections need to be walked, and can be sketchy due to loose rock on the washouts, but the trail does go all the way to the Glenn Highway at Moose Creek. The AK Railroad has granted a trail easement, so if any land holders try to claim that they own the trail or that public is not allowed they are completely and totally wrong. No motorized access is allowed.
