Paul's Plunge is a challenging trail with two distinct sections. The upper portion from Clark Mine Road to the Keweenaw Point Trail is characterized by dense forests, rocky & rooty terrain, boardwalks, and occasional open glades. This section is upper intermediate to advanced in difficulty, and all features can be rolled or walked easily if needed.
The section of trail below the Keweenaw Point Trail descends into madness... literally. A huge ravine of chaos unfolds, pitching riders in all directions across massive boulders, roots, and more. Deep mud is almost always present. There is no one line to take. Even walking this stretch is difficult. Only experts should attempt the lower portion.
