A 11 mile loop through the badlands up to the top of Pinion Mesa and back down through the Junipers. The climb to the top can be rather difficult in places, and the softness of the trail will keep you challenged as far as momentum. Once you reach the top, stop and take in the views - Shiprock, and Hogback are in the background, and then you have a very long section of downhill cruising so you can catch your breath. There is not much cover for the first 5 miles of the climb, so this is a trail best reserved for spring and fall, along with early morning rides in the summer.
