Not much has changed since the 2017 report. Expect some hike-a-bike, even on the better parts of the trail.

What an adventure! This trail needs some love. We encountered a couple severe washouts in the trail climbing up from the lake, some that are not...

Today was my first time riding Pipestone. Gorgeous views! The trail does have a number of washouts above the lake. But for a backcountry trail it had a lot to offer. There were a few hike/bike sections but it was all good. We did hear one rattle snake in the brush.

       Leave your dog at home.

I nearly had a rattlesnake Evac situation, I was stupid and didn’t put two and two together. Not a dog friendly trail. I will be back though! Beautiful scenery. Classic back country trail.

Amazing spot with gorgeous views. But a bike trail it no longer is much of. Pretty overgrown and large washout sections. Took a couple adventure ready kids who rallied the ruts, with pedal strike crashes. We rode through brush and they learned the art of Hike-a-bike. After we reached the top of the first hill, with steep drop offs on three sides, we took the road back to the parking area.

Awesome outing, but about the opposite type of trail that sun mountain has to offer.
