This wide trail is nearly flat and is almost certainly wheelchair accessible from the trailhead all the way to the stairs down to the beach. The trail has had some major upgrades during 2020 and it's now over 3 feet wide with hard-packed moderately-sized gravel. As of July 2021 the trail is open all the way to the beach, despite the closure sign at the trailhead.

The hike from the parking lot to the beach, round-trip, is 1.5 miles of flat gravel path and wide bridges. Not exerting at all but pleasant, with turns here and there, shade from deciduous trees when they're leafed out, and overlooks as you approach the stairs. Great for bird watching. Kids will enjoy the "cave" underneath a huge downed tree and searching for pretty rocks along the beach. The rocky beach can add another mile or so to the hike.

The parking lot can hold about 20 cars. There is a well-maintained PortaPotty at the trailhead.
