One of Fernie's monster rides. Head out on the Heritage Trail, continue up Coal Creek Road, staying left and looking for Marten Ridge Road and head up that. Porky follows a long way long this double track, that has puddles deep enough to drown you - most have good ride arounds, and then takes left into the forest off the double track. A challenging single track with a rocky feature 99% will walk up eventually brings you to the summit - looking over the whole valley. From there follows a great not-too technical descent, although the first 100 metres or so will make you wonder. Eventually comes down to hit Ridgemont Road - head straight across to enjoy an awesome section of Coal Discovery Trail all the way back to town. Be aware - you are way out there. Loads of bears, difficult to access if you hurt yourself, so take your time, take a buddy and have fun. Annual Porky Blue group ride and festival every year in the summer. Check the Fernie Trails Alliance website for details.

The road section has been updated July 19, 2017 to reflect changes created by logging work to the access roads beyond Marten Ridge Road.

On July 30th 2016, Fernie Trails will be hosting the 7th annual Porky Blue event! This is a classic Fernie social ride, it’s not a race however is a challenging ride.
