Trail in great condition, only a couple of greasy spots. Watch for reduced traction on wet leaves!

Total climb is around 1500’ for a full loop. Experienced mtb’ers (especially if you’ve ridden techy trails out west or east) will find the Poto a fast old-school trail with some fun climbs requiring small wheel lifts and some 1-2’ drops over water bars and eroded roots. Not a beginner trail but a great spot for newer riders to develop skills like wheel lifts, drops, and riding through sand pits.

To use the shortcut, go right at the shortcut sign by the bench, go left when the single track ends at a dirt road, stay straight across the highway (watch for fast traffic!) and look for the trail that crosses the dirt road. Go right on that trail (there’s a stop sign for trail users entering the dirt road) and you’re back on the Poto.

I always refill water at the Blind Lake pump - its iron content is much lower than the Silver Lake pump.

Respect for this trail. Agree with above that elevation gain is about 1540. Don't come out here and think it's 890, you'll be angry. Many many many punchy climbs and couple longer ones. good flow.

One of the premier old school trails in the region. Some crazy fast sections and technical descents/climbs. Lots of little natural root booters to get some air. Also the elevation is more like 1500-1600, not the Trailforks amount posted.

Rode this on Memorial Day, very tough for a beginner, lots of hills, I guess that’s what they call it “serious hills” lol...overall lots of hills and definitely not for a beginner.

I really enjoyed this trail. My legs were definitely cooked by the end. Some surprisingly gnarly descents and a lot of up and down. Most of it is double track width and nice and flowy. Whoever built those benches out there has my thanks. Lots of opportunity for scenic views of the lakes while you rest your legs.
