The Powderface Creek trail has a split personality. The east half is wide, mellow and almost qualifies as beginner trail. From the Powderface trailhead, the trail goes straight up what is basically a rocky jeep road. Once you're over the initial hump, it flattens, climbs briefly and descends down to Powderface Creek. Until you're past the junction with Prairie Link, it's rolling, bumpy and fairly quick climbing that even beginners can handle without too much trouble.

Beyond the Link junction, it morphs into a challenging ride with steep, eroded tread. You'll definitely know you've climbed something Still heading west, the Powderface Ridge trail heads up and off to the south [left]. The Powderface Creek trail descends to meet with the Powderface Trail [road], where you can turn right/north and head for Prairie Creek Trail.

This trail can be accessed from the Powderface trailhead off Hwy 66, or the Powderface Trail [closed to wheeled motor vehicles for 2015].

      		 PFC from elbow up to the ridge was all good, the steep climbs are loose and soul sucking as usual. Climb from the saddle to the summit was A+.
