Land Owner
A new single-track which connects to existing double-track, connecting the 20 km of single-track non-motorized trail in Pass Powderkeg Ski Area (PPK) to the 30 km of trail in the York Creek area.
The first new sections of trail connects at Buck 50 and eliminates a particularly steep and difficult section of OHV track that was bikeable if going from the PPK to the York Creek, but was almost impossible to bike up going the other way around.
Past the first new connection, the second new section of singletrack, machine built in September 2019, eliminates some very steep double-track through a creek valley. Going west from the second bridge, riders still need to use “unofficial” mountain biking trails like OHV trails to cross to the other area, but the route is overall not as difficult as the avoided section was. These trails are Powderkeg-York Connector (Cutblock) to the Betanger Logging Road, then either the Powderkeg-York-with-Fork-Connector, or the Betanger Main-York Road Connector.
The ultimate goal is to complete another 1 km of single-track mountain biking connector trail that, paired with another 2 km of existing OHV trail, will facilitate access from PPK to York Creek via more enjoyable trails.
Access Info
On the Pass Powderkeg side it connects about halfway up or down Buck 50, where it meets the Ski Hill Cutline. On the York Creek side it connects on the York Creek Road at Junction 112 (AEP Livingstone PLUZ map), about 0.5 km north of the start of Back Door, or on the York Creek Mine Road about 1.5 km below the start of York with a Fork trail.
This trail is unsanctioned.
