It's a pretty mellow ride, with some punchy climbs to keep it interesting. Keep a sharp eye out for trees across the trail, at least until you get East of the Prairie Link Trail. The trail runs quite close to the creek, and there are often some very wet sections to contend with. Some sections of this trail have been rebuilt and rerouted over the years; at least 4 major reroutes in the last 20 years. The current version is fast and rolling, not to mention a lot drier than it has been in the past.

Most people will use the east section of the trail to complete the Short [or Long] Powderface Loop. There are a couple of challenging ups and downs, but nothing you couldn't rock on a hardtail with 3" fork and v-brakes. Keep an eye out for hikers [especially families strung out along the trail] and cows.

Small mud pits along the way but hardly worth mentioning. All good!

Tree down approx 640 meters from the end/entrance of the trail (closest end to the highway) would require a small saw to get rid of, tried moving...

Starts off dry and as you climb it turns into a mud with snow covered. Should be good to go in a couple of weeks of dry weather.

Rode the short loop. 3” of fresh snow covers hard pack/ice. Beautiful day for a ride, but tough going the whole way.

Rode the Short Powderface Loop, and it was MINT. Some of the best fatty conditions I've experienced. Go get some! Lots of hikers.

When its dry its a lot of fun. fast and awesome, but if it has been wet you will be covered in mud head to toe.
