Prospect Shafts is a fall-line trail on the shoulder of Mount Helena. It is a brutal climb due to the increasing grade and consistently loose substrate of limestone rubble. This also makes it a loose and sketchy downhill. The east-facing aspect, lack of canopy cover, and underlying geology makes this the most reliably dry trail around Helena. You may have to carry your bike to get there, but as long as it's not buried under snow, this trail is dry.
