This is an old ATV double-track that is rutted and overgrown to trail. It has a dirt/natural surface and mild machine grading.

The lower trail tread is soggy during shoulder seasons with a lot of standing water and drainage ruts and small streams of water. The middle section has an open grassy meadow that becomes a seasonal marsh when flooded full of spring melt water. The top of this trail ends just above the big snowmobile billboard. This upper section is a decent 2-track road that holds up to some bike use.

If you're around that snowmachine sign and looking for the fastest way out of the forest, this is a good direct escape route that descends all the way to the nearest road.

Despite the straight lines and constant grades, this trail is physically and technically quite hard to ride and most people will probably walk and push their bikes at times, it's less easy and more annoying than the alternate routes. You need to ride around a lot of puddles, holes and wash outs and it takes a lot of effort to pick your way through.

Every other option is more fun and more recommended for MTB use but you may need this connection one day if you're on a broken bike or running out of daylight.

Don't climb this one unless you have to - the name Purgatory isn't a joke - lots of insects if you try at the wrong time of the year too...
