This trail is established on a couple of old roadbeds. Grass has grown into the roadbeds so the resulting trail is now singletrack. It also has known several names over the years. The western portion is Bullwinkles Ass, due to a close altercation that a biker once experienced. A middle section is called 86'd trees, due to the many trees that had fallen and cut out over the years. The lower eastern section is called Whip Me in a 1990's guidebook for Bozeman area trails. It sometimes has been overgrown with small branches that pull at clothing. Whip Me was a segment in the now defunct Hyalite Challenge Bike Race, hence the name "Race Course". This trail rides nicely in either direction and is a favorite from beginners to experts.
