The more I ride this trail the more I love it. It doesn't get much traffic, even for a Bitterroot trail. It takes quite a bit of commitment to get here climbing up Weasel Creek and crossing over on 313. The top is through an old burn and a commitment to trail work is slowly allowing the trail to be reclaimed. For a long stretch this trail was neglected and impassable. With use the tread is starting to reappear and this is one trail that has benefitted with repeated use and the trail becoming more fun every year. The old burn is challenging with half hidden rocks and steep descents and a few punchy climbs to keep you honest. One out of the burn the trails gains some sweet glow although there are still some rock surprises here and there. Once at the creek bottom. Well it is interesting. There are at least four creek crossing and it spots the creek has claimed the trail as its own. Like most creek bottom trails in the Sapphires it s inevitably overgrown in the summer, and unless people have been on it the trail has a tendency to disappear. That is part of it's charmed. You want manicured trails, you are in the wrong place.
