Rapids Ahoy Details
Savage Bliss and Rapids Ahoy share a common start and end but when the trail forks shortly after the first rock step-down, go left for Rapids Ahoy.
The trail has a filter feature at the start; and un-rollable stepdown made out of a ledge of rocks. If this feature is too much for you, walk around and choose Rapids Ahoy instead of Savage Bliss. Take it easy.
If Savage Bliss is the tech trail of Bells then Rapids Ahoy is the flow trail. But there is still plenty to keep you on your toes. primitive jumps, narrow trail sections, exposed ridges, off-camber corners and a creek gap jump!
If the latter is beyond your ability, stay on the north side of the creek and reconnect with the trail at the landing zone. The creek gap is accessed by crossing onto the south side of the creek (note it's a dry creek for most of the year) and hitting a small to medium sized gap/double jump. This double is the speed gauge for creek gap. If you nail the double, stay off the brakes and the creek gap is yours.
The trail continues in a similar vain with some techy corners and small kickers. The bush thickens right before the final steep chute which delivers you right onto the riverside. If you want to cheat, turn left onto Brutus just before the thickening and save yourself a few metres of climbing elevation.
After riding to the bottom of the trail, turn right and follow the firetrail uphill to the start of Brutus to return to the summit.
Ride to the highest point of Mt Mambup then cross the grass to the slab of rock that marks the common trail head for Rapids Ahoy, Savage Bliss, Train Spotting and Whop-a-Chang. An old fence has been flattened by animals here.
