Red 32 Details
Another older Swinley trail pre-dating the 2013 loops. Historically known as tank traps- due to the concrete enhanced corkscrew at the end of the trail.
A couple of years ago, the compartment hosting this trail was scalped/clear felled which put it in the jurisdiction of the ground nesting bird visitors. This means that some years it is effectively closed from September to March, though oddly enough the GNB's have become wise to their pedalled neighbours and natural england have deemed the trail can remain open.
Anyway, the trail itself is a flowing singletrack that really does require some pedal input.
Many riders conclude they can't see what all the fuss is about but that's really missing the point. Get your psi right, drop your saddle and go for the burn. The corners can be challenging, especially with modern longer enduro type bikes, but keep on the gas and this is a great interval test. Some corners penalise going too fast, if it's too dry the climbs sap you, if it's wet the trail is sloppy.
Always something to keep you on your toes. Watch out for the rock drop in to the final corkscrew section!
