Red 8 Details
A long established Swinley favourite, originally two way pre 2013; it has evolved in the intervening years. The trail effectively has 3 sections, split by fire road crossings. Many riders use the crossings to catch their breath!
The first section is undulating classic Swinley armoured singletrack. Known to locals as Seagull.
More recent trail works have seen enhancements to some corner areas, it's mildly rooty in places.
Section 2 has had the addition of some small drops (clearly marked) after a short climb from fire road crossing. There are two line choices, the 'A' line has two small rock drops and requires a bit more skill to gain enough speed for the small table feature which follows.
The 'B' line is arguably easier to gain the required speed to clear the table feature.
Section 3- affectionately known as 'Newt' in reference to the containment barriers in place at build time for water works, is a relatively flat, smooth but at speed, challenging section of singletrack. If you put the effort/pedaling in, it rewards with flowing corners and is a great interval training section of around 3 mins.
