The road from the saddle at the top of Tunnel Creek Rd to the Red House Flume proper is steep and sandy. Consider that section moderately difficult because of the grade and road surface, otherwise this trail is all green.

Whether climbing or descending, you're better off taking Snapdragon, which was built with bikes in mind. The Red House Flume Trail itself is pretty level and non-technical. Running north/south between the outlet of Hobart Reservoir/Sunflower Hill and we'll say Snapdragon. Red House Flume by itself is not a destination, but it opens up lots of loop possibilities when combined with the Tahoe Rim Trail and the Flume Trail. It also allows access to Franktown and Lakeview on the east side of the mountains.

Access Info

Only accessible by extended trail riding along the TRT, Sunflower HillTunnel Creek Road, etc. This trail is no less than 4 miles from any trailhead.
