To avoid an extra decent and climb up wet switchbacks, head up at the fork. Right single track up hill vs. double track decent down to Rec. site.

There are off camber sections about 10km from the end that are challenging to drive across unless you have a 4x4 and are confident driving across the sections. We chose not to drive across, but people with stock height small 4x4 trucks did. After that there is a steep hill down with a lot of loose cantaloupe sized rock that would be very challenging to drive up to get out of there. That said the road might deteriorate more over the winter, have to check after the snow melts.
