The ridge trails has the best views in Settlement Canyon. It winds it's way up from Bear Trap Pass. The trail is faint at first. The trail is loose and rocky in many section, but it does pass through a mahogany forest which is pretty unusual. The trail follows the ridge that divides Left Hand Fork from the rest of Settlement Canyon. You can see the entire basin from the ridge. This trail is an alternate way back from Bear Trap Pass to Muddy. You'll cross the Left Hand Fork to get onto the Muddy Trail. Be prepared for a pair of steep, loose descents that you might have trouble stopping on. The decent down to Muddy is tight and there is dense, low foliage.

Access Info

Accessed from Bear Trap Pass usually by ascending Left Hand Fork.
