Originally built in 2005 by NEC Global Volunteers and Makara Peak Supporters.
In 2018 the Supporters (volunteers) realigned the track to utilise some steeper terrain and features to create a more challenging grade 4 trail. The new alignment was opened for riding in May 18, with some finishing to be completed at weekend work parties.
There are also two spots where the trail splits and riders can choose a grade 5 option, one a gnarlier rock roll/jump, another a steep alternative that drops steeply down some off camber tree roots and slippery rocks.
It does get quite muddy and soft so best to stay off it for a few days after rain.
