Roam in the Loam is a rooty and steep trail that was probably loamy about twenty years ago. It descends through the forest over large root drops and difficult pitches. Other lines join the trail but the original line down stays left. The crux of the trail is a long chute which has seen better days. Due to erosion, most of the roots in the chute are now large drops. There's a ride-around option to the right, but it's not much easier. After the crux, the trail continues down several tight corners with some loose rocks in them. These are excellent practice for loose corners. The trail spits you out under the Wizard Chair onto the Base 2 access road. Keep straight to go down the Magic Trail, or turn right and climb back up to Instant Gratification.
Access Info
Climb up the Blackomb Access Road past Instant Gratification. The trailhead is at the next switchback, after the exit of Golden Boner. There are many smaller trails that go into the woods that are part of the Roam in the Loam network; the original trail is found at the very top of the switchback. Keep left on the trail to descend the original line.
