A very nice out and back trail taking hikers and skiers up to the Boss Mine tailings piles. Very scenic views of the valley below and the peaks above. Lots of fall colors with the aspen. You pass by some large meadows on the trail and moose may be prevalent in the area. During the summer you can drive a high clearance vehicle to the trailhead; in winter, the road is closed but you can ski the road to the trailhead.

Access Info

From Silverthorne, drive north on Highway 9 about 6 miles; the left turn onto County Road 1350 is directly across the highway from the entrance to the Blue River Campground. Drive up this improved road for about 2 miles to the parking lot on the left. During the dry season, you can drive to the trailhead with high clearance. After the Forest Service closes the winter gate, you must hike or ski to the trailhead, a distance of about 2 miles one way.
