Make no mistake, Rock Lobster will bite you if you drop your guard. This is an expert level trail. The main line includes mandatory drops, jumps, and multiple STEEP rock slabs. To encourage intermediate riders to see what’s possible and work towards more advanced features, there are optional “blue” ride-arounds for all major features.
Rock Lobster descends through steep, slab-y goodness the likes of which nobody knew existed on the Mt. Mac side of the valley. Gravity does most of the work, but there are several short climbs and pedaling sections to link all the most exciting features.
Access the trail from “the Collective” near the wood bridge, begin with a short climb, then enjoy a swoopy, playful section before reaching the “KK Cutoff” ski trail. After crossing the ski trail, riders enter the most technical features of the trail – two drops, steep slabs, and more than one advanced line are available in the middle section. Cross the “World Cup 5K” trail, hit the step-up jump and enter into the lowest section of the trail for more slabs and mini-drops.
Originally spearheaded by CMBC members Rob McConnell, Brian Horton, and Marcus Waterreus, our thanks to the many, many hours of work by builders James, Colin A., Adam, Hudson, Terry, Scott, Anthony G., Colin Mc., Sean, the unruly children of Takhini, and any others we've forgotten.
