This trail has two attitudes. At the top it is flowy single track through the chaparral. But once you get down into the canyon it is a rock garden like the nearby Romero.

You can ride San Ysidro as a loop by climbing up the Romero Fire Rd and transiting to the trail head across East Camino Ciello.

Hikers are frequently encountered on this trail and occasionally horses. Please ride with a bell.

Where do I begin? How about wtf!!! The trail is very, very loose, like cat litter loose for the first four miles and also very very narrow with tight switchbacks, overgrown grass covering large rocks and lots of exposure. This AND several mudslides which were very close to unwalkable much less rideable with high, high consequences. The bottom rock garden bit was fun!!! But man, so not worth the climb OR the whole near death thing
