Start at the trailhead on the right just before you get to Brooklyn Lake trailhead (used to access hiking trails around Klondike Lakes, etc.). Eventually, trail will come to a junction where it heads right, and Gap Lake trail heads left in between Brown's Peak and Medicine Bow Peak. Follow to the right to stay on the trail, eventually you will be rewarded with a long descent to the top of Rock Creek!

This is a moderately challenging trail in spots, with some wide open meadows and some gnarly punchy climbs near creek crossings. Be prepared for weather! There is little to no cover up here.

Access Info

Hang a right onto Brooklyn Lake Road (FS 317) off the highway, follow it down staying right until you've passed the open air Chapel. Pass the North Fork upper trailhead, and park either on the left or right trailhead a little after a sharp bend in the road where a two-track splits left.

This trail is Unsanctioned, Ride at your own Risk!

This is primarily a hiking trail. Be courteous and yield to hikers and equestrians or risk losing access to this trail for mountain bikers. This is also a backcountry trail. Be prepared to be out in the elements for several hours or more.
