Sidewinder is well named and features dozens of moderately banked turns which double back on each other creating a ride that feels like something from an amusement park. Bike handling skills will be tested because of the density of turns and proximity of the trees. Many optional rock rollovers and log rides are also featured.

Sidewinder is also a fun trail to ride up, but use caution as downhill riders are often only looking 10 ft ahead of their tire.

So sandy that I thought I was at the beach! Traction will suffer. It's almost a "minor issue" (yellow, instead of green "clear")

Nice climb in the up direction. For the most part it’s easy to see people coming in the downhill direction, and with more challenging downhill options parallel, it’s not like the really fast folks will be coming down anyway.

Super fun, twisty trail. Very beginner friendly. No loose rock sections like lots of other Tahoe area trails. Just nice, never ending s’s.

Pedaling up the trail not recommended as there is a perfect paved fire road parallel to the trail. Some of the turns are fast and somewhat blind and you could endanger yourself and others by pedaling up the trail, especially on weekends. Have fun!
