This 2.5 miles one way is a steep climb of about 1700 ft. No water is available along the way.
From the top of Signal Peak, you have magnificent views. The Gila Wilderness lies to the west and north, while views of the mountain ranges close to the Mexican border are also visible. Also at the summit is an active Forest Service Lookout Tower.
The trail tread is generally standard single-track width or wider.

If you want to travel further, continue on Signal Peak (East) , which connects Signal Peak to the CDT.
Access Info
The Signal Peak Trail is located approximately 13 miles north of Silver City on NM Highway 15. Travel time is approximately 30 minutes. Parking is available on the west side of the highway. Overflow parking is
200 yards north at the junction of Highway 15 and Forest Road #154.
