Skookum Flats Trail is one of the showcase river trails in the PNW. It includes old growth, great viewpoints and challenging riding. Lots of ups and downs, roots, a few rock gardens, punchy climbs, a creek crossing, and skinny contouring trails segments. Most people ignore the south 1 mile out and back by the airstrip. In the summer, nearby campers turn it into a toilet paper obstacle course. You can do an out and back or include the White River Trail and make it a loop. It is a popular trail so expect to see people and pets. HINT: The first mile of either end of this trail is the easiest. If you are having trouble here - turn around.

Running great. One new tree across the trail but all the others have been taken care of. Some trail work has been done on that cliffy hike-a-bike.

Some trees down over the trail on the east half of Skookum. Trail was running great otherwise. Wish we could come up with an idea for that granite...

The lower section below FS road 7160 is good. Defiantly an XC kind of trail. I didn’t get as much flow on the return as I was hoping for....

Have ridden this trail dozens of times on a full suspension. Just completed the Skookum Flats loop on a front suspension fat bike, and this trail rocks for fat bikes. Big tires makes roots and rocks melt.

This is a beautiful old school trail. It’s challenging, but not scary. If you have been enjoying more recent purpose-built trails, you might be a little disappointed. But if you like trails from the old days, you may really enjoy this PNW gem.
