Starts near Salmon Falls bridge where you pick up the Darrington Trail but on opposite side of road in back of the parking lot. Starts on a steady, mild climb with some switchbacks. Lots of rocks (fist sized and bigger) all over the trail after any sort of substantial rain. Trail overlooks the American river, winds through manzanitas. There are a couple of spots to take in some good views. Sections of flow on smooth hard pack, berms, and twisty through oaks and pines. Once you cross into Cronin you're riding mostly horse trail. Visit the old movie set then ride Gerle loop for a fun, smooth pedal through lush green pines. Excellent beginner loop or just blaze it for the experienced.

Parking lot off of Salmon Falls Road, free bathrooms.

Lots of wet spots due to recent rains. High creek crossings and frequent running water on the trail. Maybe wait a few days to let the ruts dry out.
