Damn it was hot and there's only two small spots of shade. Rocky as and a bit too steep for me in places. Fantastic views but not my favorite track as it wasn't signed that well.

I've now ridden this trail three times and I can confirm starting in Johnsonville is the best way to go. There are some very steep uphills, and you really need to power up them to avoid falling over. Some early parts of the track are unpleasantly rutted and very difficult not to fall off from. The day that I do this trail without stepping off the bike is the day I'm ready to win XC races.

This is a really beautiful trail with a very broad range of terrain. If you climb up through Broadmeadows, it has one of the steepest sections I have ever experienced. I'd definitely endorse starting at the northern end and get most of the climbing out of the way, then you can enjoy the general downward trend at a reasonable pace.

I find this not a very difficult technical track, but if you find some challenges you can mostly avoid it or just walk. It does require some level of fitness, but many places you can stop and enjoy the beautiful view!
