Slate Creek MTB Trail is the first trail built in the Uinta's, especially for mountain bikes. (hiking is also allowed, but no horses or motorized equipment). It is an unforgettable 5.65-mile clockwise loop experience, running through tall stands of old ponderosa pines, white fir, and groves of aspens. The trail is a well-maintained, family-friendly experience with some fun banks and jumps on the downhill. It crosses a small stream at the top with many shady places to rest for lunch. Park in the Yellow Pine Trail parking lot (with restroom) and proceed north into the canyon from the lot (do not start on the Yellow Pine trail, you will return that way). Once in the canyon past some corals, on an old equestrian trail and road, you will veer left at the sign onto the new Slate Creek trail. This is also one of the first cooperative trails in the U.S. funded and constructed by a private non-profit entity, South Summit Trails Foundation, upon Forest Service land. This partnership has been wonderful and other trails are planned to adjoin this one. Contributions to the Foundation will help maintain and build new projects such as this.

Downed tree about 1/3 of the way into the downhill - maybe 8in diameter of dead wood. Otherwise - absolutely fantastic trail - extremely excited...

New trail under construction, please STAY OUT and obey signs that mark closures. (If there’s a sign that says trail is closed it means the trail is closed). There are 3 trail cams installed and violators will be identified by US Forest Service and fined.

Not sure I would describe this ride as "unforgettable", but it's not bad. Perhaps a bit of a drive just to hit this trail, but hopefully it's a sign of more things to come. Nice brown escalator uphill with beautiful scenery as others have noted. I would also agree that the downhill section could have been a bit more thought out - some of the jumps do feel a little forced, and the first few little booters and tables still have a lot of rocks around the takeoffs and landings. Again, nothing special, but hopefully this will be a good jumping off point for more mtb trails in the Uintas.

Must be ridden clockwise. Mellow ~3 mile climb. After you cross the bridge, you have one more section of climb. When your hear the next creek coming up, it’s mostly downhill from there.

Fast and flowy trail with some fun rock gardens around the way. Lots of jumps and stumps along the side of the trail to play around on.

Uphill is an easy smooth climb with good scenery, some wild flowers and minimal switchbacks. You’ve reached the top when you basically hit the river crossing. The downhill is flowy and fast in some spots. It has a few chunky rock gardens and optional features. However, the features seem a bit forced and out of place. Overall, it’s a fun beginner trail or a nice option for a quick post-work ride. Nothing spectacular but still fun!

Good route and climbing grade. The downhill side has some nice optional features, but the approaches on few need work. The main problem is it was not well built. It looses one star for being machine built and another for shoving all the dirt on the downhill side which will create future drainage issues if not cleaned up.

Lots of downed trees. Also heavy horse traffic. Not a well thought out trail.

Really well built trail. Fun and has some flow areas. I went around May 12th and sadly horses made 4 inch divots through the trail.
