Part of the Great Western Trail. Climbs out from Pineview reservoir up to the top ridges of the range and can be ridden towards Lewis Peak or North Ogden Divide. The climb is not particularly steep but is unrelenting and is quite a grind. The descent is fast and flowy. The trial is pretty smooth and manicured, particularly as you approach Pineview.
The parts of the trail that are on the "backside" stay quite wet so be aware of that is it has been rainy or snowy recently.

Access Info

The trail can be accessed from Windsurfer Beach at Pineview Reservoir. When coming from Ogden, head up Ogden Canyon and turn left to cross the dam. The trailhead parking lot is about 1.5 miles from the dam on the lake side of the road. The trail starts at the back of the parking lot and immediately crosses the highway.

A short section on the backside quite muddy after the rains Friday 10/20. Trail is perfect other than that. Should be dried out again now...

10/16/18 Lewis Peak 17 mile all fueled by plant protein power. All natural. No electric bike, or unnatural addictive stuff.

I've been preparing for today for months. I made sure I did some QiGong exercises before starting my ride and ate some nutritious plant protein (I'm a practical part time vegan).

Some parts at the top had mud and snow. The downhill was awesome (7 miles).

It was quite the challenge. I spent a long time on the mountain because: (1) I took lots of pictures for "Arthur's Trails" YouTube playlist (2) I had work related phone calls and texts to respond (3) The mud on top slowed me down, and (4) I biked about half of the miles in the dark with no light (next time I'll make sure I take my Night Rider lights).

      ---x---
