This trail starts at the top of Monte Specie and in the first part it's a dirt road but after that it becomes a nice single track, in the second part you are on a very exposed ledge but it's short and in the last part this trail it's a very good single track inside the woods. between the ledge part and the last part there's a passage very tough because you must pass along a landslided area which is 3 mt wide: here you must be very creative. PS: Going here with wet ground it's not recommended because there are a lot of roots in the woods part and you have to remember that hikers have got the priority here. PS:you must carry with you your Via ferrata kit (Harmess,Alpine Helmet and longe) because there is an exposed part and a rock falling's risk in few parts. There's a little destroyed part by a landslide

Access Info

If you want you can climb the trail from the Hotel Baur Tre Cime (CAI 34) but if you are searching for an easier climb you can follow an easy dirt road which starts from Carbonin (CAI 37). When you arrive to the top of Prato Piazza you can continue to the top of Monte Specie / Strudelkopf and after that you have to follow the trail to the Landro's Lake (CAI 34)

Really stunning trail! But you have to have a certain level of skills and confidence. Many switchbacks, so being able to to do endos really helps to enjoy the trail. The exposed ledge isn't that harsh, as you have to walk/push your bike at that particular part. Harness and via ferrata kit is maybe good idea for those having troubles with heights, but we didn't need it as you can use your hand for holding the "seil"/steel rope. No climbing involved, trail at exposed part is wide enough to walk along your bike, but with steady amount of caution. Landslide part is just cca 10 meters long and isn't an issue anymore, they made steps there. All in all, it is an extremely rewarding trail for mountain bikers with certain level of skills that love to do authentic alpine trails.
Suggestion: you don't have to go to the top of Strudelkopf. The best of the trail begins from the Strudelkopfsattel, where there is a ruin of a fortress from WW1, cca 100 altitude meters from the top. And from that point (the saddle) you have most beautiful views as well.
