Sunrise trail is the very start of the Downieville Classic and where to start your first time here. Park in Downieville and pay to shuttle 45 minutes to the trailhead of Sunrise Trail. The trail drops gently through some gentle S-turns and switchbacks of mostly smooth dirt and compacted shale with occasional bowling-ball sized rocks to roll or avoid to keep things interesting. There is only one slightly puckery section of a sharp left turn with exposed dropoff to the right. Minimal pedaling for this trail - really just at the start. There is a short optional alt-line with a few jumps followed by engineered burmed turns. This is a great warm up to loosen up and get ready for Butcher Ranch Trail, which this trail terminates in.
