This is an amazing section of trail with incredible views. It used to be very steep, but the Columbia Valley Cycling Society (CVCS) invested about $40,000 into rerouting the old steep sections. No longer is this trail called the Hell Track. It is now easier than the lower section and highly recommended - especially over pedaling or hiking up the road. If it's feeling too easy, try taking the old route options which are significantly steeper. This multi-use trail is for two-way hiking traffic, but only uphill cycling. Please respect the hikers and give them the right of way.

For hikers, this trail provides a gradual ascent to the summit. For hikers who like to go straight up, try Ashby ascent.

Re-routes are welcome and strongly encouraged but this is still a pretty grunty climb. I'm also not sure I would say it is easier than the lower section.
