T4 (Trail To The Top) began it's life as T3 (technical torture trail), a two way technical trail built by Murray Drake, Jonathan Kennett and Makara Peak volunteers in 2007-2009 featuring a number of man-made and natural obstacles.

As part of the implementation of the Park's 10 year master plan, it was rebuilt in 2020 by TGL with funding from WCC. It is now an uphill-only trail that creates a grade three loop in the northern end of the park when combined with Zac's Track. An additional section from the water tank on Makara Road up to the beginning of T4 is planned for construction in late 2020.

Great fun! Worth riding just for the giant trail monster that lies on the track for you to ride along! Super technical but nothing scary.

I'm gutted to read this may be 'converted' to a G3 uphill - another of the gems of Makara falling!! Personally, I felt it worked so well with Vertigo it was like getting 2 for 1.

Now it's just deliverance, trickles and live wires for proper technical tracks (excluding year gnar - it's not something I've tried).

Good thing I live so close to Mt. Vic

The new upgrade is awesome, a fun and easy trail to get back the top after coming down Zacs. Much better than slogging it up the 4wd track.

In 2021 there's going to be a new grade 4 track built from the top of T4, down to Vertigo and then on to the bottom of Varley's. This replaces the T3 downhill.

This track is very easy and smooth thanks to the alterations. I recognize the need for raw, technical trails but if you're coming from Varley's this is frankly an ascension to heaven. I quite enjoy it.
