Gorgeous high alpine riding through terrain different from the High Meadow and Heavenly portions of the TRT. Climb from 9100 ft at star lake up to 9700 ft where the Freel Peak hiking trail branches off. Then a fun descent down to Armstrong Pass. Views of Lake Tahoe, Freel Peak, Mt Tallac, Pyramid Peak etc. The trail is mostly the crushed granite sand found throughout Tahoe but was no problem to climb with my cross country 2.2 tires.
