Going from North to South, you'll leave the Heavenly TRT on the backside of the ridge and emerge through a pass onto the Lake Tahoe side of the ridge with views of South Lake Tahoe emerging and the high meadow below once used for cattle grazing. The trail is mostly flat for the first 2 miles, and then a 400 foot climb over 1 mile leading to beautiful Star Lake. The trail passes a majestic, very large and very old Juniper tree that warrants a quick stop.
