Running through the foothills between the mtns of the NF and private property of town this trail does not have the fast DH characteristics of many others in the area. It is however quite twisty with tight corners, some rock gardens/features and although it only gains 300ft overall it climbs & loses the same 50 repeatedly over 3 miles.
Parking at the southern end is all but non-existent, please be courteous to residents when parking in the area.

Trail could use some brushing and definitely a good raking- lot of rubble in the tread.

Very dry and dusty. Fun flowy singletrack littered with loose post-baby fist size rocks. Most rocks are off trail, but some are annoyingly right...

The beginning of this trail got me PUMPED! It starts with cool single track climbing with mixed rock tech...and then it quickly turned into a weird experience. The next 95% of the trail is a mix of single and double track that wanders with OK signage, through super loose and relatively uninteresting terrain. The trail was not even marked on the kiosk at the trailhead. This was confusing, but we luckily were chatted up by someone who had just done the trail. We ended up pedaling it from N to S and instead of reversing it (which is recommended), we dropped down to the road (which is easy to do at the end) and pedaled road back. I hate pedaling road, but it was better than reversing that trail.

This is New Mexico, do not expect a lot of signage.

Watch out for loose dogs in Talpa, they will chase you.

Rad xc trail, 1st commenter must have gotten lost. I have no idea how with trailforks. Trail rides well both ways, tech, loose, and fast. Gets some walker traffic , be nice

Nice close to town xc trail that twists in and around and up and down the pinons with some short (blink and miss) grunty climbs that from south end heads towards Ojitos trail. Loose gravel keeps it interesting, not a torture fest like other commenter wrote.
