The outbound section of the Tassle Hill trail bears left from the wheeler trail which is reached by ascending the connecting trail from White Street. Alternately, it is reached by descending Tassle Hill Peak #1 to the north on "Tassle Hill Peak #1 Backside Trail".
Continuing north, the trail navigates a fairly level valley and eventually traverses up an easy grade along the shoulder of Tassle Hill Peak #2. Once the Peak #2 high point is reached, the trail follows the ridge for a while before dropping into the next valley. From the valley bottom, the trail begins to climb again and after the height of land is reached, the trail eventually breaks into an open grassy area. The open area of Tassle Hill Peak #3 is the highest point along the ridge and in Oneida County. Views looking north to the Mohawk Valley are excellent.

Riders may return via the same route or proceed to the "Tassle Hill Return Trail".

To ride the return loop, continue northwest to where the wide grassy area begins to narrow down to double track and look for a trail entering the woods on your left. Once in the woods, the trails turns back to the south and you'll soon encounter a fun switchback section that twists back and forth across a fairly steep ravine.

See Tassle Hill Return Trail for a full description.
