The Den of Spines - named after the resident porcupines, this is the first new trail in the Agreement Forest inventory in years. This trail will flow on the bike but it is sure to become a favourite of all forest users.

Looping through a former homestead, this area is home to several active porcupine dens. Be on the lookout for signs of porcus spina, like bark scraped from trees.

Dog walkers and hikers are sure to be attracted to the lookout at the lake.

This trail has two or three short but tough climbs. The overall rating is moderate.

Thanks T. Good to hear people are enjoying it, over 400 hours of volunteer work went into its creation.

Doesn't quite beat out my favourite AF trail (Strangler) but this might be a close second. Needs a bit more time for rocks to settle in and anchor themselves. This will become a mandatory loop when I'm there. It swings both ways, great in either direction.

Rocky trail even by AF standards. Gonna love it in winter on my fat bike

Did a little rock work repair today, no need for brush cut-back yet. All else seems good.

Awesome Birchy. Agree on the pruning.. the benefits of a "new" trail!

I think I need to get used to Canadian trails. I found this to be almost unrideable. All endless rock gardens where you don't have any momentum considered to be fun here?

       Hi Yoga100,

Momentum can be had on this trail and your next time around will be slightly less "unrideable" Please give it a few more tries before giving up.

5 star trail building. It requires a lot of bike handling skills to get in the flow and make it through. It’s pretty relentless, so be prepared for a rocky ride. Pick your lines wisely.

Think this is the rockiest trail I have ridden, even when compared to Quebec trails in Gatineau Park. Great if you want to learn how to ride rock, but not for the feint of heart. Would rate this more black than blue compared to the other blues at AF

Great trail to practice rock crawling skills. Hard work. Can’t imagine how hard it was to build. In my mortal view, would need deep suspension plus mad skills to find flow here.
