The Big Easy (Grade 2 - Beginner)
The Big Easy is actually a section of the MBO planned Three Peaks Trail. It’s an awesome climbing track, 5.5 km long and an easy grade up all the way. It’s by far the best and easiest way to access Signal Hill and provides a nice descent as well – watch out for other riders, runners and the odd goat.
Access Info
From the OCTAGON, head north along George St all the way to the GARDENS SHOPPING AREA, drive along the Northern flank of the Dunedin Botanic Gardens on OPOHO RD, then up the hill on to SIGNAL HILL RD. Keep to the tar seal until you see the monument. Just below the monument there are a number of tracks that branch, down, across. The Emersons Big Easy climbing track also finishes here. There's a notice board on the top of the Roller Coaster which should help you find your way.
There is a HEAP of riding available on the hill (not just downhill stuff either), best thing to is take your bike up and go exploring.
