Part 3 was the first of the section of Three Brothers completed, followed by Part 1 and then finally Part 2 in December 2015. As a whole, Three Brothers is a vital part of the Makara Peak trail network, being the final section of trail that enables riders to complete a singletrack loop of the lower half of the park.
Part 3 starts from the junction at the end of Peak Flow, Three Brothers (Part 2) and Ridgeline, and traverses over to JFK, the first part of the intermediate descent back to the main car park which also includes Smokin and Lazy Fern (or SWIGG and Starfish).
The trail is very much an intermediate grade track - well benched with a smooth trail surface, with good sight lines and not too many features or corners to test you. It provides a good option for riders continuing on from Three Brothers (Part 2) or coming down from the summit via Peak Flow.
It's worth noting that this trail shares the first 5 metres with the more difficult Ridgeline Extension. Riders should turn left at the junction soon after the beginning of the track.
From the end of Three Brothers (Part 2) or Peak Flow, cross the 4WD track immediately opposite and turn left at the first branch.
